The Emphasis today in the Church that Jesus is building

1. Intimacy – the intimacy factor is most important

        • Mark 3:13-14 – to be with Him that they might go out to preach
        • The gift when born again is the supernatural ability to have a relationship with our supernatural God – Romans 6:23b and John 17:3
        • Moses – Exodus 33:11 “face to face as a man speaks to his friend”

2. The Kingdom – and it is far bigger than just the Church

  • The expansion of the Kingdom through going into all the world and making disciples and also multiplying churches
  • The Gospel of the Kingdom and not just the Gospel of salvation – Luke 4:43
  • Conviction of sin, godly sorrow, repentance leading to salvation “without repentance there is no salvation” 1 Corinthians 7:8-10
  • Jesus and John: “Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand” – Matthew 3:2 and Matthew 4:17

3. Apostles and Prophets – First, foundational, functional, focused

  • First – 1 Corinthians 12:28 “First apostles, then prophets…”
  • Foundational – Ephesians 2:20 (the church) built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Jesus Christ being the chief cornerstone.”
  • Functional- to equip the saints – Ephesians 4:11-12…
  • Focused – on the Church becoming apostolic-prophetic and reaching the lost

4. The priesthood of all believers who are a prophetic people

  • Martin Luther discovered two truths that had been lost to the Church by the mid-1600’s. The first was “salvation by grace through faith” (Ephesians 2:8-9) and the priesthood of all believers (1 Peter 2:5). The first was re-established during his life – the second one almost forgotten.
  • Today God is reintroducing the theology and practice of the people of God being  priests unto Him. And, because of apostles and prophets being restored to the Church (see #3) the priesthood will also be prophetic. In the time of Israel’s exodus from Egypt God called His people to come to His mountain and worship Him – coming into His presence and hearing His voice. They refused to go to the mountain top and God’s presence but instead sent Moses to be their representative and tell  God what was on their heart (priest) and to listen to God and come and tell them what was on His heart (prophet). God never intended either of these tasks to be delegated to an individual. He always wanted a prophetic priesthood. He is currently reintroducing and restoring this to His Church.

5.  Seek and save the lost – the mandate of the church – do so supernaturally

  • Luke 19:10 – Jesus’ mandate
  • Matthew 28:18-20 – the Church’s mandate
  • Go into all the world – apostolic
  • Seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10) / preach the Gospel (Mark 16:15) / be  prophetic (1 Corinthians 14:31, 39)
  • So, you will be working naturally supernatural
  • You will be “fully proclaiming the Gospel – Romans 15:18-19
  • You will be demonstrating God to the world – putting Him on public display (1 Corinthians 2:2-5) – see #7 below

6. We are called to make disciples – not converts or believers

  • Matthew 28:19
  • This includes four levels after being born again through repentance:
    • Disciple – teaching all that is needed for baby to grow into maturity and who you are in Christ
    • Train – in the doctrines of the church (10 basic ones)
    • Equip – in the supernatural gifts and callings
    • Mentoring – tucked under the wing of a mature leader integrating practical ministry and life into one healthy whole

7. It Is Time to Step Up and Step Out

  • Mark 16:20 “And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by accompanying signs.”
  • 1 Corinthians 2:4-5 “…and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.”

Key word: “demonstration”

  • Put on public display
  • To exhibit
  • To manifest or show off

As we step up and step out in faith as He has commanded that we do – seeking and saving the lost and making disciples in each and every nation …

  •         He will show up and show off

Recent examples:

  • 5 year old who could not talk – Village of Arna, Kazakhstan
  • Man with cancer at Leadership School – Kazakhstan
  • Man who was brain damaged and could not talk – Almaty, Kazakhstan

8. He is calling the youth (16 to 36+) to become seriously sold out – beyond committed and actually being willing to die for His cause – and they are responding worldwide seeking to obey and do what He is calling them to do

  • They are seeking mentors (fathers in the faith) and there are few willing to help them
  • They are already beginning to disciple those younger than themselves (acting as

mentors…)
