Radical Intimacy

When a person is born again they receive the supernatural ability to communicate with God and build an intimate relationship with Him and with Jesus empowered and enabled by the Holy Spirit. The book of Romans states that He gives to those who repent of their sins the “gift of eternal life” (6:23). This gift is defined as an intimate relationship with God in John 17:3. So, we have this gift – the ability to see what God is doing, hear what He is saying, and to become involved in His activities in the world as we touch His heart and He touches ours (1 John 1:1-4). How close we are to God is determined by us. The choices we make or don’t make determine how intimate we become and how much depth this relationship has.

God is calling His disciples to intimacy. He wants us to know Him well and to understand His heart. He wants us to have the mind of Christ and become deeply involved in His plans and purpose – seeking and saving the lost as we transform the world one person at a time. But this intimacy is a serious, RADICAL INTIMACY where we are more than acquainted – we are deeply, madly, passionately and intensely in love with Him. In fact, we love Him with our whole being – mind, spirit, soul, and body (Matthew 22:37-38). This is radical! Different! Passionate! Powerful! And, absolutely a cry from God’s heart today that we need to hear and respond to immediately.

Radical intimacy will lead us to RADICAL LOVE where we can then truly and completely love ourselves just as we are. And, then this love – His love – will grow and overflow and splash out on everyone we come into contact with (1 Thessalonians 3:12 The Living Bible). Then we are “loving our neighbors as we love ourselves…” (Matthew 22:39-40). This will be radical love in action aimed inward and outward at the same time. We will then see the purpose of being “rooted and grounded in love” as Paul wrote in Ephesians 3:17. And, because we are deeply rooted, we will bear fruit, much fruit, eternal fruit (John 13:34). This is good because we will be held accountable for what we have accomplished for Him while here on this earth.

This RADICAL INTIMACY that leads to RADICAL LOVE will then motivate us – Jesus chose the word “compel” as in “drive a demon out’ – to move out into spiritually dark places and touch hearts with His love so that they will come to know Jesus and become born again. The true Church will be “driven out into the wilderness” by the Holy Spirit as Jesus was. But not to be tempted but to let our RADICAL LOVE overflow and splash out on the lost who live in the spiritual wilderness so that they become the saved in Christ!

This will be seen as RADICAL ACTION because the Holy Spirit is very creative and has a tremendous number of creative ways for us to share Jesus and His love with others. And, the young people today are feeling this call to RADICAL ACTION and are responding to the Holy Spirit and are very willing to move out and touch lives bringing the light of the Gospel where there is only spiritual darkness. I hope and pray that if you are young you will respond to that tug in your spirit. And, if you are young at heart – you too are being called to RADICAL ACTION. Time to respond.

Time to report for duty – on your knees as you look into the face of Jesus and share RADICAL INTIMACY with Him all because of His RADICAL LOVE for you that took Him to the Cross and into Hell so that you could have this relationship with Him. Then stand up and move out in RADICAL ACTION to share this RADICAL LOVE that you have received and responded to.

Welcome to the true Christian faith!
