When you were conceived in your mother’s womb – even before that – God knew all about you
He created you in His image
He made you unique
He considered you very special
He loved you
Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
When you were born – your FIRST BIRTH … Physical

You received your life from Him
Your body was especially designed by Him
Your soul was ready to receive and absorb and become ‘you’
Your soul – your mind, your will, your emotions
He had plans for you – things for you to do with Him
He designed you for a purpose as Jeremiah 1:5 states
He knew every detail of your life including how long you would live
When you are born again – your SECOND BIRTH … Spiritual
You stepped into His plan and His purpose for your life
Revealed to you by the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit began to guide and direct you into His plan
The foundation was laid:
Personal relationship with God (Romans 6:23b and John 17:3)
Growing and maturing – becoming
Walking in the light that you have
Hearing God’s voice and doing what He speaks
Become involved in the great adventure of seeking and saving the lost
There is a great investment being made in you by God as you receive
You have become a “new creature in Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
All of this investment that God has made in you and all that He gives to you by grace only transforms you IF and WHEN you experience your FIRST DEATH
As soon as you are born again (2nd birth – spiritual birth) there is your FIRST DEATH which is the death of ‘you’ – “self” – your soul
Romans 6:3-4 “Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”
You die to ‘self’ …. Your dreams, your hopes, your desires, your agenda, your plans
Paul states, “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20)
“In him we live and move and have our being…” (Acts 17:28)
Your soul – as stated above – is your mind, your will, your emotions
Your mind is now being renewed by His Word – Romans 12:1-2
You have the mind of Christ – Romans 2:16
You are no longer pursuing your will (desires, decisions)
You can know know His will – Romans 12:2, 2 Timothy 2:26
Your emotions are transformed and you now take pleasure in what gives Him pleasure – Philippians 2:13
Your heart can now feel what He is feeling – Philippians 1:7; 1 Thessalonians 3:9
Pre-birth – Birth (physical) – Born Again (spiritual birth) – Death (self – soul)…
Up to this point
You have been in receive and embrace (absorb) mode
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Now it is time to begin to give God a return on all that He has invested
You are now ready to minister and touch people’s lives with God’s love
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
The Baptism in the Holy Spirit – empowered and enabled to join Him in His work
John 4:14 “Well of salvation” from which only you can drink (see: Isaiah 12:3)
John 7:38-39 “Rivers of living waters” where many can drink and receive life
Now you can join Him in His work of “seeking and saving the lost” (Luke 19:10)
Now you are empowered to do what He created and called you to do with Him
Now you have the nine supernatural gifts that Jesus used to minister in His three years of powerful, life-transforming ministry in Galilee
John 14:12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father (implied: and will send the Holy Spirit)”
You are now ministering in the community where you live and work and play
You see people coming to Christ, lives being transformed, and new believers growing into disciples who are making more disciples…
As a “minister of reconciliation” and an “ambassador of the Kingdom” (2 Corinthians 5:20) you are earning rewards as you minister
Rewards that you will receive when you die and enter into the fullness of eternity and live in His manifest presence if you complete the ‘good works’ that God created you for

And, while the Holy Spirit and you are fulfilling the call on your life and the purpose for which God created you….
Jesus is busying preparing a place for you in heaven
John 14:2 “In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?”
Then, for the born again believe, there is a SECOND DEATH (Physical)
Hebrews 9:27 “And … it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.”
As believers we are not judged for our sins as they are all forgiven
We are judged for the works that we were called and empowered to accomplish The ministry the Lord gave to us
We then receive our rewards … any of the five or even all of the five
The judgment and the rewards are based on what we did with what He gave to us
Natural abilities
The skills we learned
Talents we possess
Gifts of the Holy Spirit
How did the Kingdom benefit by you living the number of days allotted to you by the Lord?
And, the final step… Eternal Life – Life in Heaven and eventually on the new Earth
Life after physical life – Spiritual life – Self (soul) death – Physical death
Key resource: “Heaven” by Randy Alcorn
Soul (character) will go with you into eternity
Spirit is born again so it enters heaven
You will be given a glorious body when you arrive
It is eternity – so no time frames / no 24/7 or 365 days…
You will have things you must do – work was not part of the curse
You will continue to learn, grow, develop
There is always more to know, understand, apply
We will continue life as we now experience it
Eat, drink, fellowship, celebrate
You will have a place to live … one Jesus built specifically for you
Your new body will look to be in it’s mid-30’s … peak of regular health
People who recognize you – those who know you will know you
Build new relationships as heaven is all about relationships
There will be amazing worship … nothing like we experience here
Awesome … tongues, tribes, nations
No ability to see or know what is happening back on earth
And, no ability to communicate with those you left behind
And, no visiting rights granted
No pain, sorrow, sighing, tears
Will see God’s ‘big picture’ and come to understand “why” things happened as they did
And so much more…
Without Jesus: Life – Death – Hell
With Jesus: Physical life – Spiritual life – Soul/Self death – Physical death – Eternal life
