It is good to be home – both home in the physical sense able to sleep in my own bed – but home in a spiritual sense and able to fellowship and worship with my spiritual family. You are greatly missed when I travel and minister elsewhere on a weekend.
Many years ago I was mentioning to the Lord – alright, I was complaining – that I felt like I really did not have a home as I was living out of a suitcase and often living in someone else’s home. I remember very clearly His answer, “My heart is your home.” I remember that every day but especially as I settle into another strange place or sit for hours alone in another airport somewhere in the world.
And, although God’s heart is my home – and yours – it is always good to come home – to the other home. Here, with you, my family. And, I am always reminded that the Christian faith is more than BELIEVING in the Lord Jesus; it involves BELONGING to His family, the Church. And, I know that I belong here. So, I always feel that I have “come home” when I share a Sunday with you and join in the worship here.
As I look around I see that each and every one of us is BECOMING more and more like Him. We are changing, growing, maturing as we walk together. And, in 2013 and beyond you will see that the Living God will be using us mightily as we say ‘yes’ to BUILDING His Kingdom with Him.
It is good to be home!
