Investing in the Vision

When you know who you are “in Christ” and who He has created and called you to be; then you will receive a revelation of the call of God on your life – what He is asking you to become involved in with Him and for Him. Being first and then doing. After all, you are a human being and not a human doing. However, this vision entrusted to you is not a simply matter of God paving the way to do what comes naturally or easily for the believer. Invariably, as true people of God seek to live their lives in such a way as to fulfill His vision for their ministry – grasping God’s vision requires them to invest in the vision by attaining the vision itself as well as by implementing it once they have received the revelation of what it is they are being called to do. Receiving the revelation is hard work and can take weeks and even months of prayer, fasting and seeking God’s perfect and complete will for your life and thus ministry.

So, the vision is not one you have designed and made up to match the gifts and talents God gave you. It is a vision revealed by the Holy Spirit while in prayer and seeking the Father. This God-given vision is much bigger than you could ever manage or fulfill on your own using your natural skills, gifting, and talent.

Your vision for His ministry through you will be a vision that you sought, prayed and waited for and then received from Him. This vision will be much bigger than you, will involve others (a team), and will benefit many who will come to discover and know the love of God for them personally through what you are called to do for Him.

Angus Buchan once stated, “If your vision doesn’t scare you, it isn’t big enough.” I would add, ‘And, it is most likely not from God.’
