When I look at the Christian Church here in North America it seems to me that, in many ways, we are a sleeping giant that needs to awaken and begin to defend the faith while there is still both time and opportunity.
However, as I talk with believers I have come to realize that before we can defend the faith in general and share this faith with others seeing the lost saved in substantial numbers there are a number of things that would need to happen first. Generally speaking (and you may be the exception to the “rule”)…
1> We will need to get over our apathy and lethargy about the Christian faith in general and about seeing people rescued from a Christless eternity in Hell. I believe this will happen when we recover our passion for the Lord and His plans and purpose for us and His Church.
2> There will need to be a serious willingness to change our own life-style to include “the lost” – time-wise, budget-wise, emotionally and in our prayers.
3> We will need to increase our understanding of the Bible and the basics of the Christian faith as most lack a working knowledge of the basics of the faith and you can’t defend or spread what you really don’t understand and have a real grasp or handle on.
4> We will then need to learn “how to” defend and spread the faith in this generation as it is vastly different than it was even a decade ago. We will all need training but there are many who are successfully doing it from whom we can learn.
5> We will need to actually release the supernatural power of God that is upon us through the baptism in the Holy Spirit that we have received to enable us to witness (Acts 1:8).
6> We will also need a dose of supernatural boldness (available from God for the asking) and plain old guts and courage to step out in faith believing.
God has commanded His Church to “go into all the world…” and spread (including defend) the Gospel which is the power of God unto salvation. I believe He is moving on the hearts of all believers who are “asleep at the switch” urging them to wake up and take Him and His mandate to “seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10) seriously. I think we are in for a season of tremendous shaking because God is passionate about all of this even when we are not – yet!!
