A Church EXPANSIVE With Energy

I sense that there has been a shift in the spiritual realm here in North America. I have sensed it both here in the churches in western Canada as well as in northern California and into Montana. I think it is from coast-to-coast-to-coast in both nations and is not limited to one area of either nation. The shift is many faceted. I sense we are focusing much more on what our God can do and is doing and a lot less on what the Devil might be doing or has done. It’s like I hear God saying – “Hey kids, I shrunk the Devil”. I sense that our mental and spiritual picture of our God is expanding and we are coming to understand how awesome, majestic and powerful He really is. With this there is a growing excitement about what He is up to in the Church and in His world. In the Church I sense an excitement growing – an anticipation – an awareness that God is truly up to something and although we are not sure what it is we are sure that it is and that it has already begun. It is like that feeling we had as kids as we counted the days down to Christmas morning and the opening of presents.

I sense, as well, a new “energy” level. Not a new level of power because I believe as Spirit-filled believers we received God’s power when we were Baptized in the Holy Spirit. This is more a supernatural energy that is coming along with this anticipation. This “energy dynamic” is growing and I believe it will become immense within the Church in the very near future. It will be what causes us to rise up and “occupy till He comes” as it propels us around the world to every corner of the globe to fully preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every tongue, tribe, and nation. It will keep expanding and growing as we step out in faith to fulfill the mandate that is upon the Church of Jesus Christ.

The ‘preaching of the Gospel’ will not be with words only but will be accompanied by miracles, signs and wonders. These supernatural signs will not be the manifestations that have been common in recent moves of God. These will be the signs and wonders that followed the apostle Paul as he preached the Gospel; the signs and wonders that Philip witnessed in the city of Samaria in Acts 8. We will be able to say with Paul that we have “obeyed God by what we have said and done – by the power of signs and miracles, through the power of the Spirit…we have fully proclaimed the Gospel of Christ.” (Romans 15:18-19). This sustained burst of ‘energy’ will be the deciding factor in the salvation of  multitudes world-wide.

As I pondered this sense I was receiving from the Lord I read Matthew 16:18 in The Message version… “This is the rock on which I will put together My Church, a Church so expansive with energy that not even the gates of hell will be able to keep it out.”

I believe there is a new season upon the Church and that as we respond to this “energy surge” we will experience the hand of our God as never before. I believe it will be happening in numerous places at the same time. I believe even those who consider their church insignificant in the larger scheme of things will find this “expanse of energy” exploding in their midst. I believe there will not be any big names to whom we will need to go to “receive from” as this will be available to all and any who call upon the Lord in this season. I believe it has already begun in small ways and in various places. I believe we will see this grow supernaturally and that we will stand back and be in awe of what God is doing. We will not hear about “what God is doing in this place or that place” and we will not hear “what God is doing through so-and-so”. We will simply be amazed at what God is doing!

The Church is on the move and it is a season of renewed interest in the things of God in the Church. Apathy and lethargy will simply fall away; people will refocus their lives and place God first and a new hunger for worship will arise within the hearts of God’s people. This will result in a “church so expansive with energy that not even the gates of hell will be able to keep it out.”
